What Solutions Mapping shows

Solutions Mapping shows projects that help internally displaced people, returnees, refugees and host communities move towards durable solutions in Sudan, for example boreholes instead of water trucking, or seeds instead of food distribution. It shows who is doing what and where, against the eight IASC criteria for durable solutions, and where the gaps are.

The Durable Solutions Working Group (DSWG) maintains the dashboard, with the Durable Solutions Unit (DSU) of the Resident Coordinator's Office in Sudan as secretariat. Organisations report their own projects. Inclusion is a self-assessment by the reporting organisation and does not imply endorsement by the United Nations.

This is not an exhaustive list of projects contributing to durable solutions in Sudan. It shows only projects that organisations have reported to the Durable Solutions Working Group. To add yours, use Add your project, or download the Excel template to add several at once.

The eight IASC criteria

Each criterion keeps one colour and one icon across the dashboard. Grey always means no project, which is a gap. The number of each criterion is shown next to its colour.

Sources and clean-up

Projects come from the DSWG list "Sudan DS Interventions" and from submissions through the form and the Excel template.

Before publication, state names are matched to the fixed list of 18 states (towns entered as states are recorded as localities), entries outside the eight IASC criteria are matched to the closest criterion, spelling is corrected and missing durable solutions funding is calculated from the budget and share. Every change is listed in the clean-up log.

Localities follow OCHA's administrative boundaries for Sudan (admin 2). States and localities: OCHA, via geoBoundaries (CC BY 3.0 IGO). Neighbouring countries: Natural Earth. Boundaries are simplified for display.

What is published

All project information is public except the focal point's name and email address, which DSU uses only to follow up on submissions. Public enquiries about any project go to [email protected].

To correct a published project, open it on the map and choose "Suggest a correction".
